Is proof infrastructure the same as fact-checking?

No. Fact-checking publishes an organization's judgment that you are asked to trust. Proof infrastructure makes the underlying claim and its evidence independently verifiable, and settles disputes through stake-backed juror voting with a recorded outcome and dissent.

Why not just use a deepfake detector?

Detectors output a probability that degrades as generation models improve, and the receiver still has to trust the detector.
